  • Rutgers University,  The Boggs Center on Developmental Services

    The Boggs Center, as a University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities, values uniqueness and individuality and promotes the self-determination and full participation of people with disabilities and their families in all aspects of community life. As a catalyst and resource, The Boggs Center, through partnerships and collaborations, builds capacity in organizations, systems, and communities in a culturally competent manner. The Boggs Center prepares students through interdisciplinary programs, provides community training and technical assistance, conducts research, and disseminates information and educational materials.

  • Georgian Court University - Transition and Career Studies

    Transition and Career Studies (TCS) at Georgian Court University is a four-year transition and postsecondary inclusive college-based program for students with intellectual disabilities. What defines an intellectual disability? Visit aaid.org for more information.

  • The College of New Jersey - Career and Community Studies

    The Career & Community Studies Program (CCS) at The College of New Jersey is a four year inclusive, college-based certificate program for young adults with intellectual disabilities ages 18-25*.

    CCS is one of the oldest inclusive post secondary/transition programs in the country and received CTP (Comprehensive Transition Program) status by the U.S. Department of Education.

    The program is designed to prepare students for adult life through academic rigor, career discovery/readiness, and peer socialization as part of a diverse community of learners at The College of New Jersey.

    *Student must turn 18 by December of their first year in the CCS program.
    *Student must be 25 or under at the start of their first year in the CCS Program

    Autism New Jersey is a nonprofit agency committed to ensuring safe and fulfilling lives for individuals with autism, their families, and the professionals who support them. Through awareness, credible information, education, and public policy initiatives, Autism New Jersey leads the way to lifelong individualized services provided with skill and compassion. We recognize the autism community’s many contributions to society and work to enhance their resilience, abilities, and quality of life.

    POAC

    POAC Autism Services, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, is making a difference today for every individual with autism in our state. Each year we provide hundreds of events for the autism community including: training for parents and educators; recreational and support services to individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder and their families; and training for police and first responders which is saving the lives of children/adults with autism throughout the state. POAC funded the first statewide program for the early detection of and intervention for children with autism. We address, support, and promote legislative issues that affect those with autism and their families. Additionally, POAC sits on the NJ Governor’s Council on Autism and together we have supported and directed millions of research dollars. 

     

     


  • Individualized Respite Care Guide: A Resource for Families and Professionals

    This publication discusses how to create a solid team between the family and provider (whether a family member, friend, or professional) to most effectively interact with those with ASD, address any challenging behaviors, and keep everyone safe. Customizable forms are included so families can provide critical details about their loved one to the provider in advance and providers can summarize the respite experience for the families.
