Course Description:  AP Physics 1 is an algebra-based, introductory college-level physics course that explores topics such as Newtonian mechanics (including rotational motion); work, energy, and power; mechanical waves and sound; and introductory, simple circuits. Through inquiry-based learning, students will develop scientific critical thinking and reasoning skills.  All students enrolled in Advanced Placement courses are required to take the Advanced Placement Examinations in May (see Policy 2429 & Program of Studies page 5).

    Course Expectations

    1. Please make every effort to be on time and present for each and every class.  Physics is a very challenging course and missing one class, especially an 84-minute class, will result in a lot of missed information.
    2. Be prepared for class both physically and mentally.
    3. Be an active participant in class and review class material regularly.  Reviewing material regularly will help ensure a strong understanding of the material and retaining information in physics is very important because each topic relies on a strong understanding of the previous topics.
    4. Complete assignments on time if you expect to receive credit.
    5. In the event of absences, please make every effort to complete the missed assignment.
    6. Be sure to check my website and Google Classroom on a regular basis.
    7. AP Physics is a rigorous course and will require hours of work outside the classroom setting.
    8. Above all, be respectful to your classmates, the classroom, equipment/supplies, and Ms. Osborne.
