Wall Twp. 175 Years on March 7, 2026!

On March 7, 2026, Wall Township, NJ will celebrate its 175th birthday. It is worth remembering not only its colonial and recent history but also the deeper past and the many peoples who have lived here. Long before Europeans arrived, the land that would become Wall Township was inhabited by the Lenni Lenape, an Algonquian‐speaking Native American people.
Over time, Wall’s population shifted dramatically. European settlers who arrived in the 17th and 18th centuries brought new communities, including farmers and tradespeople. In recent years, the township has seen gradual diversification. Thus, as Wall Township marks 175 years, it stands on land with far older roots, Native American presence stretching back centuries, and has become a community shaped by waves of settlers and immigrants, increasingly diverse while still tightly connected to its historical origins.
