Old Mill School - Special Services Staff

  • Karen Bonelli, Learning Disabilities Teacher - Consultant

I am a Learning Consultant (LDT-C) and case manager on the Child Study Team.  I split my time between Central School and Old Mill School.  Before becoming an LDT-C I was an elementary school teacher for 12 years. My husband is also a teacher and we have 3 children. My role as an LDT-C/Case Manager includes: Assess academic proficiency and learning characteristics of each pupil referred to the child study team for evaluation and interpret the findings in written reports and informal conferences. Assist in the development and coordination of an appropriate individualized education plan for each pupil requiring special education and/or related services. Participate in the ongoing assessment of academic achievement and educational placement of classified pupils. Consult with classroom teachers, administrators, and parents regarding special instructional methods and/or materials necessary to meet the specific needs of individual pupils. Keep up to date in the field of learning disabilities with current regulations governing the education of pupils with disabilities. I look forward to working with you.

    Kelly Clayton, School Psychologist

I have been a school psychologist at Old Mill Elementary School since 2014. I work as a part of the Child Study Team and I am here as both an academic and emotional support to assist you and your children through their elementary years.  As a school psychologist, I help students to succeed academically, socially, behaviorally, and emotionally.  My role is collaborative in nature with educators, parents, and other professionals to provide a supportive learning environment that strengthens connections between home, school, and the community for all students. I conduct psychological evaluations, provide counseling, advocate for and support students, and communicate with teachers, parents, and administrators. When I am not at school, I love spending time with my husband, two young daughters, and my mini-goldendoodle. I am happy to assist you in any way!

    Amanda Zakerowski, Speech-Language Pathologist
    [email protected]

I am so excited about getting to know all of the students here at Old Mill and working on achieving their speech and language goals. I will be at Old Mill on Tuesdays and Thursdays. It is my pleasure to work alongside our wonderful staff and students in such a positive environment. A little about me... I was fortunate enough to grow up on the Jersey Shore where I spent all my summers at the beach. Also, I played soccer all throughout high school and college. I received my Speech-Language Pathology Master's degree from Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut. I am passionate about helping each unique student increase their independence and reach their full potential. When I am not teaching at Old Mill, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, waitressing, going to the gym, traveling, and hanging out with my big black lab puppy, Doc!  Fun facts about me: I love mint chocolate chip ice cream and watching Shark Tank! I look forward to a successful and fulfilling 2022-2023 academic year!
