Article on Supporting Grief Over the Holidays
SOME LOCAL RESOURCES:
Commonground Grief Center: The mission of Common Ground is to provide support in a safe place where children, teens, young adults and their families grieving a death can come together and share their experiences as they begin the journey through the grief process.
67 Taylor Ave., Manasquan, NJ 08736 732-606-7477
Three of our parishes, Church of the Ascension in Bradley Beach, St. Catharine's in Spring Lake and St. Mark's in Sea Girt, have Adult Bereavement Support Groups. The goal of these groups is to share our stories, to better understand the grief process, to learn ways of coping with a grieving heart, to learn to care for ourselves on our journey, to accept loss and explore ways to move on and grow in our lives, and to affirm our spiritual connection as a source of comfort If you have experienced the loss of a loved one.
Rainbows for All Children is a structured support group for youth ages 5 - 14 (and their parents or guardians) dealing with loss (death, separation, divorce, deployment, deportation, incarceration, special situations) at no cost to the families.
Each program runs at different times of the year. If you interested in healing through the support of those on the same journey, please contact one of these groups:
