Welcome

  • OPEN DOOR POLICY
STUDENTS, PARENTS, & COLLEAGUES, ALL WELCOME!

I am always open to meeting parents face-to-face so that I become a familiar face, and so that parents can develop a comfort level with me.

Please feel free to call or email me to set up an appointment.  I start where my students or parents are at in their level of readiness but also know that I will not sugar coat anything, I am very upfront and honest with parents.  My role is mainly to raise awareness, provide support, infuse science-based education, as well as connect students and parents with local resources as needed.

My Background: I am very Blessed to have two incredible teens, a wonderful husband, three dogs; and I come from a large family.  My husband and I have been coaching for our children's soccer teams for many years, we even referee together.  One of my favorite times of year with soccer is facilitating my son's soccer team building session we usually do in August, the kids have a great time and so do we.  I enjoy outdoor activities and being outside more than inside.  I learn something everyday from my students, parents, colleagues, administration and my environment.  My original degree was in elementary education. I love kids at all ages and stages, and I believe it is always a privilege when students seek me out for support either for themselves or for a friend.  I believe Parents are the KEY TO PREVENTION and I wish more parents would pick up the phone to get to know me better (732) 556-2139.  I have served in the behavioral health / substance abuse prevention and counseling field for over 28 years.  I have had the privilege of developing and implementing community prevention services from the local to the state level; providing clinical treatment services at the local level, primarily with adolescents.  I developed the first New Jersey Co-Occurring Disorders Learning Collaborative at the state level; in 2008 contributed to the refinement of the IDRC class curriculum for DUI offenders.  I am in my 12th school year serving here in the Wall Twp. School District; and, as a member of the Wall Twp. Municipal Alliance for the Prevention of Drug & Alcohol Abuse, and I am very grateful to the support received by the Wall Alliance over the years. I serve as a volunteer on the Monmouth County Board of Addictions as President, as well as on the Ocean County LACADA for Substance Abuse Services.  I served as the Co-Chair for the Public Awareness Committee for the Association of Student Assistance Professionals of New Jersey (ASAP-NJ) 2017-2020.   I am also humbled and grateful to be a Salve Regina University Alumni Achievement Award Recipient in 1997, as well as the 2018 Recipient of NJEA Leading Ladies / 107.1 THE BOSS Radio Station Recognition nominated by RAFTS in Manasquan.  Some of the services I provide in Wall High School include: Screening, Brief Interventions, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT).  I also facilitate one to one student/parent, faculty and staff counseling and referrals as needed; facilitate small support groups for students struggling with similar problems; and facilitate drug prevention education in 9-12 grade Health Education classrooms.  I am responsible for the Red Ribbon Week (RRW) drug prevention activities.  One of the many Red Ribbon activities I collaborate on, with the help of  Wall Alliance, Wall Police and other area agencies is our annual RRW Community/Parent Drug Prevention Forum "PARENT TALK". In years past I held face-to-face monthly “Parent Talk” evening workshops here at WHS. (if I have at least 15 parents interested in learning more about how adolescents find their way on the path to addiction, I am happy to reinstate these monthly workshops)  I am  the Faculty Advisor and creator of the D.E.L.T.A. Leadership Club, I developed this Youth Leadership Advisory arm to the Wall Community Alliance for the Prevention of Alcohol and Drug Abuse in 2013 and since then our Club Motto has been "BE THE CHANGE YOU WISH TO SEE IN THE WORLD."   Please check out all the activities DELTA Club has been very instrumental with over the last several years.  I coordinate team building trips as an adventure learning prevention strategy and to reward student leaders who dedicate their time to the D.E.L.T.A. Club, Wall Alliance and other county, state and local activities throughout the school year.  I was also a former Co-Advisor for Heroes and Cool Kids Leadership Program Fall 2012 - Spring 2015 here at Wall High School.
